| Coaches Bios
All NOVA AC
coaches were at least college level athletes
themselves and are highly experienced - this
current group has over 50 years of coaching
experience at the high school and/or youth
level and has achieved track and cross
country success at the international level.
The coaching team share the philosophy that you never
stop learning, and take an enthusiastic
interest in keeping abreast with the
latest developments in the sport.
Coach Julie
Hayden has a degree in physical
education and taught P.E. for ten years
in England, including track and field. She
managed high school and state level track
and field teams in national competitions in
the U.K. Julie is a Level One USATF
Certified Coach and has worked
voluntarily in youth and high school
track in the county for a number of years,
including coaching numerous athletes to
state, regional and national level
competition. She is also an Assistant Cross
Country Coach at Broad Run High School. As a
certified "fitness professional" Julie
teaches and coaches people of all ages from
children through seniors. She is employed at
several fitness facilities in Loudoun
County to teach and coach many aspects
of fitness, including aquatic exercise and
general conditioning. Julie considers middle
and long distances to be her main area of
expertise, but has taught and coached many
different track and field events, and
has broad knowledge and
experience in many areas of fitness.
Fenton
Hugg leads NOVA AC sprint coaching. He
originates from Jamaica where
he represented his country in
international meets in U17 and U20 age
groups in the 400m and 4x400m relay. He
brings a wealth of coaching experience
and also coaches high school athletes.
Fenton is an Assistant Track Coach at Broad
Run High School
Coaches Marc
and Joan Hunter coached both cross country
and track & field at South Lakes and
Madison High Schools for 10 years. This
includes, coaching numerous state qualifiers
at the high school level in both track and
cross country. They were responsible
for several nationally ranked relay
teams at the high school level, including
a national indoor champion
team. The Hunters have also
coached numerous youth athletes to state,
regional and national level
competition. Marc and Joan consider
their main area of expertise the middle
and long distances, although they have also
had had much success with the 400
Meters.
